The programme seeks to produce graduates who are committed to using civil engineering technology to promote a sustainable economy. In addition they are expected to act as stewards of our environment and resources, to be effective agents for sustainable change, and educate others about the benefits of a more sustainable community.

BCT is a four-year full-time programme and is structured to be more practical biased than the conventional science-based engineering degree programmes. Students are exposed to practical based training throughout the eight-semester course work with weightage of 60% practical and 40% theory including two semesters of Work-Based Learning (WBL). The curriculum emphasizes the building of a strong foundation in civil engineering, the application of technology to reach sustainability and an understanding of the fundamentals of business, and regulations.

In order to keep abreast with the rapid technological advancements and evolving requirements in industries today, students will undergo two semesters of structured on-the-job-training WBL with the nation's key industry players. This collaborative programme aims to equip students with the latest knowledge and skills applied in the actual and current situation. Graduates from this programme will possess hands-on experience of the industry with the technical know-how and dynamically competent to fulfill the needs and requirements from both community and industries.
