2024 Budget: RM6.8b for TVET next year

13 October 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: A total RM6.8 billion will be allocated for the Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) next year.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said up to Oct 5, 17 government-linked companies (GLC) and 44 private companies had signed 61 memoranda of understanding.

They covered cooperation through curriculum development, as well as contribution of equipment and expertise.

"For example, Petronas has collaborated with Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) Bandar Penawar, Johor, to provide 42 industry trainers, curriculum development and equipment that comply with the petrochemical industry's specifications in Pengerang.

"Next year, RM100 million will be allocated for the professional certification recognised by industry to TVET graduates and as an incentive to industries to work with public TVET institutes," he told Dewan Rakyat during the tabling of the 2024 Budget here today.

He said Human Resources Development Corporation would benefit from RM1.6 billion allocation in providing training courses.
